Stéphanie

is an independent curator and art historian with over two decades of experience in the art world. Her practice is rooted in creating sensory-driven exhibitions that combine historical and contemporary art with decorative arts, transforming spaces into mise-en-scènes—or, immersive environments. Working closely with artists and makers, she curates exhibitions that position audiences as active participants, engaging with objects and space beyond white-cube modes of display .

Influenced by the interplay of art and domesticity, Stéphanie’s exhibitions for PARLOUR embrace touch, sound, movement, and scent as essential tools for engagement. By bringing historical and contemporary works into dialogue, she likes to create new connections across generations and disciplines. Her curatorial approach often draws on storytelling, rituals, and scenography to create exhibitions that unfold over pace and time, encouraging presence, interaction, and sensory immersion.

Stéphanie Ruth holds a master’s degree from the Courtauld Institute of Art, where her dissertation explored Oskar Schlemmer’s Bauhaus ballets. In this research, she examined how Schlemmer used space as an active force on stage, reshaping the relationship between performer and environment to express his utopian vision of humanity. This study analysed his use of costumes, movement, and abstraction to transform the stage into a site where the physical and metaphysical converge.
